Aconcagua Plaza de Mulas Trekking

Day 01 Pick up from your hotel or airport in Mendoza city . We beguin the trip with 2.5 hours driving to Horcones Valley, the base of Aconcagua Park located at 2900m. Hiking to Confluencia Camp located at 3400m (600m of elevation gain) 3.5 hours hike. Rest at the camp with very comfortable facilities.

Day 02 The amazing trekking to Plaza Francia, the base of the impressive South Face of Mount Aconcagua. From Confluencia Camp 3400m 800m of elevation gain reaching 4200m in approximately 4-5 hours hiking.

Day 03 We will begin our second approaching day. Trekking to Plaza de Mulas across Playa Ancha (wide beach) a desertic and very long windy valley during most of the trekking ending de journey climbing up through a very steep path, “Cuesta Brava” (meaning Rugged Slope), were we reach Plaza de Mulas located at 4360 m. Were the base camp stuff will be waiting for us with snaks and drinks. 8-10 hours hiking and 1000 m. of elevation gain. 

Day 04 Rest day. We will walk Plaza de Mulas surroundings overcrossing the Horcones Superior Glacier, with an incredible view of Aconcagua´s west wall. Plaza de Mulas is where hundred of expeditions from all over the world begins the ascent to the summit of Mount Aconcagua, so you can talk and share experiences with them!

Day 05 After an early breackfast and the beautifull views of the Horcones Superior Glacier from the confortable camp we began the descent all the way back to Horcones Valley . Once we arrive at the Rangers office, a private van will be waiting to transport us back to Mendoza.  8 to 9 hours Hiking

Upper body

• 2 Top underwear, polypropylene or thermal capeline
• 1 Long sleeve shirts
• 1 Fleece jacket
• 1 Windproof Gore-Tex jacket, it must have a hood
• 1 Down jacket, it´s better with a Hood

Hands

• 1 Pairs of liner gloves
• 1 Pair of fleece or wool gloves

Head

• 1 Hat or cap for the sun protection
• 1 Fleece hat

Lower body

• Bottom underwear
• 1 Trekking pant

Footwear

• 1 Pair of good trekking boots | we recommend with Gore-Tex

Feet

• 1 Pairs of lightweight socks
• 2 Pairs of heavy-weight socks

Eyes

• 1 Pair of glacier glasses 100% UV protection

Others

• 1 Headlamp
• 1 Sleeping bag comfortable at -20ºC
• 1 Pair of hiking poles
