Day 01 Catamarca (1.385m)

The expedition guide will be waiting for you at Catamarca Airport to your hotel. This day your mountain equipment will be checked, we will rent extra equipment if needed. You will stay and enjoy one of the best Hotels in Catamarca. (Meals not included)

Day 02 Catamarca / Fiambalá (1.505m)
The group will travel by private transfer to the city of Fiambalá. This day will be used to rest from the long journey and talk about the expedition. Hotel accommodation.

Day 03 Fiambalá / Quemaditos Refuge (3,600m)
After the breakfast, the group will travel by truck 131 km to Fiambalá from Refugio Quemaditos, mouth of the Cazadores River ravine. The first camp will be set up here.

Day 04 Quemaditos Refuge / Aguas Calientes Camp (4.165m)
After the first night in the mountains, you will leave early in the morning to the Aguas Calientes camp, the last place with water, you will take advantage of a source of the Cazadores River. Walking time: 7 hours.

Day 05 Aguas Calientes Camp / Aguas de Vicuñas Camp (5,050m)
This day starts very early. After breakfast, the Trekking will begin towards the next camp called Aguas de Vicuñas. Once they arrive at the place they will set up the camp. Walking time: 7 hours.

Day 06 Aguas de Vicuñas Camp / Arenales Base Camp (5,200m)
In the morning the last day of approach to the mountain will begin. You will arrive at the Arenales Base Camp. Camp will be set up and you will be able to explore the surroundings of this wonderful place. Walking time: 7 hours.

Day 07 Rest at Arenales Base Camp
This day you will rest at the Arenales Base Camp. You will be able to contemplate the beauty of this region.

Day 08 Ascent to nearby hills to the Base Camp (up to 6,700m)
Ascent to nearby hills to Base Camp (up to 6,700 m) «] This day will be used to acclimatize to the altitude and recognize neighboring mountains such as Cerro Tres Cruces (6,700 m), Cerro del Nacimiento (6,493 m), Incahuasi Volcano (6,698 m ), among others.

Day 09 Rest at Arenales Base Camp
This day a final check-up of the equipment will be carried out and the team will rest in order to accumulate strength for the next days of the expedition, which require greater effort.

Day 10 Arenales Base Camp / Altitude Camp (5,800)

The ascent to the altitude camp located at 5,800 m will begin very early. Once in the place, and after a break they will begin with the installation of the camp. You will enjoy the wonderful views and this unique landscape. Walking time: 7 hours.

Day 11 Rest in the High Camp
This day they will rest, for the next day to make the summit attempt.

Day 12 High Camp / Summit (6.864m) / High Camp

This ascent is made by a very marked track and by sandy terrain with slopes that vary from 15º to 40º of inclination. After 6 hours of walking, you will reach the crater of the volcano, from there you walk to the summit on large rocks where you must face the final climb: 30 m of 5.4 (American climbing grades). Our company supplies ropes for crossing snowfields and final climbing. At the summit, approximately 6 people fit.
After spending 15 minutes at the summit, the return to the high altitude camp will begin, around 4 hours. Walking time: 12 hours approx.

Day 13 High Camp / Arenales Base Camp

Breakfast and then the camp will rise, relaxed and enjoying the last images of this landscape, continue the descent to the base camp. The loads will be prepared to be transported by the mules the next day.

Day 14 Arenales Base Camp / Aguas Calientes Camp

What remains of the base camp will be disarmed and after having breakfast, the trekking down to the next camp will begin: Aguas Calientes. End of the program.

Having the right equipment on your expedition will make almost as much difference to your safety, comfort, and enjoyment as any physical training you do. It is essential that you take the time to acquire the correct gear; don’t wait until the last minute to find out your local shop doesn’t have your size. This equipment is expensive, but you can often find great sales online and at your local gear store.

The purpose of this gear list is to help guide your purchases. Often salespeople in your local shop do not have first-hand knowledge of high-altitude climbing, so be sure to balance their advice with what you read here. During your expedition to Aconcagua, you will encounter a very wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. At one end of this range is the pleasantly warm and beautiful City of Mendoza, while at the other end of the spectrum is found the cold and often windy weather on the summit of Aconcagua. The equipment you bring must function well in a wide variety of conditions. Your clothing should be warm, lightweight, dry quickly, and allow good freedom of movement. Adhere to the layering principle: several
thin layers of insulation (rather than one thick one).

While you are required to bring everything on this list, there are numerous options, brands, and versions of each piece of equipment, unless otherwise noted. Using our current suggested brand list we encourage you to shop around, do research, even borrow, and use your experience with our list to find the best gear for you.

Finally, a note on our recommendations: these are products which our guides have used extensively and been happy with. Purchasing the specific items listed below will ensure you have the right tool for the job, but there are other options on the market.
