ANDES CROSSING ON HORSEBACK DUCK PASS

DAY 01 · SAN JUAN OR MENDOZA – BARREAL
Reception in the city of San Juan or Mendoza and transfer to
Barreal. Acclimatization, team review, logistics talk. Introduction
to the history of the crossing. Free time. Night in Barreal in
shared cabins (3 to 5 people). Consult for single or double
rooms. (1,700 m)

DAY 02 · BARREAL – PEÑÓN COLORADO / LOS HORNITOS
Breakfast. Transfers in 4×4 vehicles to the first mountain station.
Assignment and preparation of the mules. Lunch in the field.
Departure through Cordillerano valley delimited by the
mountains La Ramada and Alma Negra. Native fauna sighting.
Arrival to the first campsite, night in Peñón Colorado or Los
Hornitos (BC1 · 2,900 m). Depending on where we start the ride,
we can advance to another BC at 3,600 m or intermediate.

DAY 03 · PEÑÓN COLORADO – VEGAS DE GALLARDO
Breakfast at Peñón or Los Hornitos. Departure to the pass of
Espinacito, where we will reach a maximum height of 4,500 m.,
perhaps the most adrenaline and exciting moment of the
expedition. Arrival to the base camp. Dinner and night in Las
Vegas de Gallardo (BC3 · 2,990 m).

DAY 04 · VEGAS DE GALLARDO – VALLE HERMOSO
Breakfast in Las Vegas de Gallardo. We ride to Valle de Los Patos
to reach the Valle Hermoso, where General San Martín performed
with the army their last camp on the Argentinian side. Dinner and
night along the river of Valle Hermoso (BC4/5 – 2,990 m).

DAY 05 · VALLE HERMOSO – CHILEAN BORDER – VALLE HERMOSO
Breakfast. Horseback riding to the Chilean border. Break and
back to Valle Hermoso, where we spend a second night.

DAY 06 · VALLE HERMOSO – RANCHO DE LATA / VEGA DEL CURA
Breakfast. Horseback ride back among cordillera streams until
we reach Rancho de Lata or Vega del Cura, where we will dine
and spend the night (BC6 – 3,550 m)

DAY 07 · RANCHO DE LATA / VEGA DEL CURA – BARREAL
Breakfast at Rancho de Lata. Departure in ascent to Paso La
Honda (4,300 m), where the border line of Altas Cumbres and
Cerro Aconcagua can be observed. Arrival at Manantiales.
Possible extension to Burners by road condition. Transfer to
Barreal. Night in shared cabins (3 to 5 people). Consult for single
or double rooms.

DAY 08 · BARREAL – SAN JUAN OR MENDOZA
Breakfast. Transfer to San Juan or Mendoza city. End of services.

Upper body
