Mt. Ojos del Salado; Catamarca, North Argentina

Placed at Cordillera de los Andes, Catamarca (Argentina) and Chile border. It’s one of the higher volcanos from America (22572 f). It rounds by higher that 6000 mts. Volcanos, and the desertic area makes it’s a wonderfull challenge.

Itinerary

Day 1 Mendoza Welcome. We’ll receive you at Francisco Gabrielli Airport or at the bus-station, and then we’ll take you to the hotel. Lodging. Later, we’ll check the general and personal equipment. Afterwards, the Welcome Dinner in a typical Argentinean restaurant.
Day 2 Mendoza / Fiambala: At 8:30 in the morning, we’ll leave to Catamarca. Lunch on road. Lodging at Fiambalá. Dinner.
Day 3 Fiambala / Laguna Verde After breakfast we’ll go to Laguna Verde, croassing Chaschuil vail, Guanacos reservation, Gendarmeria Station at Cortaderas, Carabineros Station at Laguna Verde, where we’ll camp. Dinner.
Day 4 Laguna Verde : Breakfast. Trekking to become acclimatized. lunch. Dinner.
Day 5 Laguna Verde: Free day to rest. Full board.
Day 6 Laguna Verde / Refugio Atacama: Climb by 4x4 vehicule to Atacama refuge. (5000 mts.)
Day 7 Refugio Atacama: Free day to rest or load carry. Full board.
Day 8 Refugio Atacama: / Refugio Tejos : Hiking to Tejos refuge. Full board.
Day 9 Refugio Tejos : / Summit / Refugio Tejos :: The BIG DAY has came, we’ll leave the camp early in the morning and we’ll continue firmly to conquest our objective, the OJOS DEL SALADO VOLCANO. After that we’ll come back to Tejos refuge (or Atacama refuge).
Day 10 Refugio Tejos / Fiambala : Come back to Fiambalá. Lodging, dinner.
Day 11 Fiambala / Mendoza : Come back to Mendoza or La Rioja airport. Lodging at Mendoza. Farewell dinner.
Day 12 Mendoza / Aeropuerto: After breakfast, transfer to the Airport or bus-station. Farewell, until the next challenge.
