Cordón del Plata Expedition

Expedition Mt. Plata – 6000 mts. / Expedition Mt. Vallecitos – 5500 mts.

High altitude trekking and camping in the highest mountain range outside of Aconcagua. With peaks up to 6000 meters, Vallecitos is an excellent option for acclimatizing for Aconcagua or simply getting great views.

Option B Expedition Mt. Vallecitos – 5500 mts.

Itinerary

Day 1 Mendoza City. We met the guide, control and rent of equipment, purchase of food, medical card filling.
Day 2 Piedra Grande - 3550mts (Camp I)
Day 3 Salto de Agua - 4250mts (Base Camp)
Day 4 Salto de Agua - 4250mts (Base Camp) rest day, for acclimatization. Trekking by the zone.
Day 5 Summit to Co. *Plata 6000mts / *Vallecitos 5500mts
Day 6 Mendoza.
Day 7 Extra day because bad weather, or acclimatization.

Cordón del Plata Expedition

Mt. Arenales 3500mts. + Mt. San Bernardo 4300mts

Vallecitos is to 80 km the West of the City of Mendoza, in the Cordón del Plata mountain range. With peaks from 3000 up to 6000 meters, it is the venue chosen by many climbers as the center of acclimatization in altitude before attempting to ascend the summit of Aconcagua or simply getting a great view. Trekking at this altitude provides wonderful sights in the highest mountain range outside of Aconcagua. Enjoy the camping experience at one of the most beautiful mountain refuges of Argentina.

Itinerary
Departure 9:00/9:30hs.

Day 1 Cerro Arenales -3500 mts / Time of march 5 hs / Difficulty Moderate.
Day 2 Cerro San Bernardo - 4300mts / Time of march 6 - 8 hs / Difficulty Moderate.

Recommended To Bring Light underwear / Long underpants / Polypropylene or Capilene (cotton is not advisable) / Fleece baselayers / trekking pants / Warm hooded jacket with Duvet or Thinsulate interior / Gore-Tex jacket waterproof and breathable with hood / For your head Cap and scarf to protect your neck // Lightweight polypropylene or Capilene balaclava / Wool or fleece ski type hat / 100% UV goggles / For your hands / fleece gloves / For your feet Mountain boots / Thin socks: 1 pair of skin tight polypropylene socks. Mt. Penitentes

Los Penitentes is located in the eastern side of the Andes (Mendoza, Argentina). The Penitentes Mountains give an amazing view of Mt. Aconcagua. It is also an ideal place to enjoy the solitude of the high mountain experience.

Itinerary

Day 1 Mendoza / Los Penitentes town 2700 mts. / Base Camp, Reception in Mendoza city and transfer to Los Penitentes town.Begining of the approach trekking journeying through the "Quebrada de Vargas"Camping in the mountain base. Rest.
Day 2 Base Camp - Summit / Base Camp in the morning, beginning of the ascension; Approximate distance to summit- five hours. Descent to base camp. Dinner & rest.
Day 3 Base Camp - Los Penitentes - Mendoza.

Recommended To Bring Light underwear / Long underpants / Underpants and turtleneck / Polypropylene or Capilene (cotton is not advisable) / Fleece baselayers / Fleece layer pants / It is advisable to wear lateral zipped garments to allow ventilation / Warm hooded jacket with Duvet or Thinsulate interior / Gore-Tex jacket waterproof and breathable with hood / Gore-Tex, waterproof, breathable pants.
